After spending 2 weeks, working and reworking my plans for Spiti, it now seems that my original plan stays. 12 June is the date then.
With 7 days at hand, my most probable itinerary looks like this :
12th June - Start early from Delhi, reach Shimla by mid day, meet the entourage (sandy, and most probably Dholta), continue to Sarahan. Gonna be a hectic day, 560 kms to be covered, weather and early start are important.
13th June - Leave Sarahan for Sangla after visiting the Bhimakali Temple, reach Sangla, head for Chitkul, and by evening, head for Kalpa. Do not plan to stay in sangla or chitkul, i've heard they are over crowded.
14th June - Kalpa to Tabo, again a long day of riding, early start. around 180 Kms.
15th June - Tabo - Dhankar - Kungri Monastery - Kaza. Plan to do a small hike to the Dhankar lake as well.
16th June - Kaza - Kye Monastery - Kibber - Chandratal. I have a reserve day planned so if things are working great, could stay the night camping in some meadows above Kibber.
Otherwise, camping at Chandratal has been planned for the night.
17th June - Chandratal - Manali - Bilaspur/Palampur. This is the last leg of the trip, can roam around a bit in manali, before launching for home.
Me and Sandy say goodbye at Mandi, he heads for Palampur and i for home.
Camping equipment would be procured this weekend from a operator in Delhi, and this saturday my bike goes for a overhaul.
A few glitched still remain, I hope Kunzam Pass opens up well in time. If it does not, the trip from Chandratal to Manali would not be possible, will have to take the road back in that case. And, i hope the rain gods smile at us, and the monsoons are not a week too early.
So, this looks like it, any changes would be accommodated.
